Artificial Turf For Las Vegas Home Owners

A growing number of Las Vegas home owners are showing an interest in artificial turf. This is probably for two reasons, most importantly that there is a drought in Las Vegas that has continually reduced the amount of available drinking water for the public for numerous years in a row. Because of a combination of a growing population in the valley and a reduced amount of natural rain and snowfall that creates the Colorado River, Lake Mead has been dropping for years. Anyone who has been there recently has seen the ring around the mountains where the water level used to be vs where it is now, and this illustrates that we are running out of water quickly. So what is a home owner to do about it? Conserve water by getting rid of your lawn.

Your grass is one of the biggest wastes of water in Las Vegas. It accounts for more than 50 gallons of water per square foot every year, all of which could have been allocated to people and animals to drink. Just because we can afford the water bills doesn’t mean that we should waste the water, because if it runs out for one of us then it runs out for all of us. We need to work together as a community to make sure that this does not happen. One of the best ways to do this is to participate in the programs that encourage saving water, and ultimately benefiting both you and the community as a whole. So haw does saving water benefit you?

If you were to decide to remove your grass lawn right now and replace it with an artificial turf lawn, then you would not only save on the ongoing water bills but also receive rebates from the city on the costs of the installation. Yes thats correct, the city will pay you to take out your grass and replace it with artificial turf, which saves you money on water anyway. It also improves your property values by making your property look better while also being lower maintenance. Younger people prefer homes that they do not have to keep up so much, and gravitate to homes that will not take their time with things like landscaping. For those that want a yard to lounge in as well, your home becomes very appealing because it solves both issues. Younger people are concerned about the environment as well as wasting their time and money, and an artificial grass lawn will allow them to solve both issues at the same time. So while it may take a little bit of marketing on the part of the city to encourage conservation for our own good, ultimately the efforts will pay off for us in a big way. We will avoid the potential crisis of running out of water, and at the same time we save ourselves money and time on a personal level. We bet you didn’t think that fake grass had such an impact!
