People attempted to remake their personal residences into something that was not in line with the typical desert landscape, and it began to install grass lawns like you would see on the East Coast. This proves to not be a good idea to the fact that a living lawn will need upwards of 50 gallons of water per square foot to survive in the desert for one year.
