Desert Greenscapes

Better Than Grass, Artificial Grass

Lets face it, Las Vegas is a special community with special needs.  If you choose to live in Las Vegas you are going to have to realize that you are not living in a place that’s anything like anywhere else.  Yes we have more than three million people living here, and every one of them has realized over time that in order to live in Las Vegas without having any regrets you are going to need to come to grips with the fact that you live in a desert.  There is simply not as much rainfall in this area as in other places, and it gets far hotter here and it does anywhere else in the country.  Because it will be difficult to get people to want to live in this kind of environment in a typical circumstance, we do things differently and except those differences as a community.  We legalized gambling in order to drive people to visit in our community and potentially living here. We made it so that our taxes were far lower here than everywhere else, and made the benefits of living in the desert worth the problems that we would have.  One of the things that we seem to be having can difficult time getting over is the fact that our landscaping must look different here than it does in areas where people move from.  It is just too hot and there isn’t enough water to maintain things like grass lawns and decorative plants.  For this reason we come together with the understanding that desert landscaping may be a bit of culture shock to those who are not used to it, but it is superior to real grass in areas like this.  If you simply can’t think about not having a grass lawn on front of your house, and there is artificial turf that will take care of that issue.  Artificial turf is a synthetic product made of plastic that looks and feels exactly like real grass only it doesn’t need the water that real grass needs.  Switching over to either desert landscaping or artificial turf will benefit the community by saving the precious reserves of water that we have, and making it so that we don’t have as much chance of running out during drought conditions.  As a community we need to all participate in these programs in order to assure that we did not have issues in the future.

If you would like to find out more about artificial turf and how it can benefit your business or home, you can simply contact the water authority who can give you lots of statistics on how much water it will save if you do not have real grass planted.  The most glaring statistic is that each square foot of grass lawn in Las Vegas uses upwards of 50 gallons of water every year, all of which could be used for drinking by people and animals.  Save water and help Las Vegas by installing artificial turf.
