Football Turf In My Yard?

Most people who have been to a high school football game in Las Vegas have probably noticed that the field is covered in artificial turf.  This is primarily due to the fact that the Las Vegas heat makes it quite difficult to keep large areas of grass healthy without a large amount of dedicated staff and budget to do it.  While golf courses in Las Vegas can achieve this goal using extensive sprinkler systems and groundskeeping teams, most high schools simply do not have the ability to dedicate that amount of effort and time to the upkeep of their field grass, and as a result they opt for synthetic products to simulate the look and feel of real grass.  While some may state that they do not prefer to play on artificial grass fields due to the fact that the surface is slightly different than a natural grass field or that the ball rolls differently on man-made surfaces, the fact that there are significantly more positive aspects will usually mean that the school decides artificial turf is the way to go.  For the reason that so many people see synthetic grass products on football fields, they are many times referred to as “football turf.”

Football turf for your home would simply be another way of referring to a yard that has a synthetic turf product installed, and therefore needs no watering or mowing.  It is probably a slight bit of a mistake due to the fact that “football turf” would be a synthetic product that is produced to look and feel like a grass field which is mowed quite short, and a typical installation of artificial turf in a personal yard would probably be a longer type of grass blade.  Football turf types of synthetic grass would be more seen on the personal putting greens that some people in Las Vegas install in their back yards, and they would have a slightly harder and more compacted feel.  With typical backyard artificial turf, the installers will attempt to create more of a spongy and soft surface which is more conducive to play and lounging than the harder surfaces necessary for sporting fields, although the exact type of surface can be installed to meet the customer’s goals and desires.  In a nutshell, fake grass comes in many looks and types of grass blade, and a customer can choose the product that they want installed based upon how they see themselves using the space over time.  If you feel that you may want to use the space to practice your football drills, maybe an actual “football turf” will be used.
