Install Synthetic Turf Into Your Las Vegas Yard

Las Vegas is a community that is hot, and we are not talking about how great it is to live here.  We are referring to the temperatures, and the fact that when you look at the average temperatures over the course of most years, we are one of the hottest communities in the country.  The summers in Las Vegas are frequently over 110 degrees, and temperatures like this seem to be on the rise.  Each year we set new records for the highest temperature and the longest periods of consecutive days over 100 degrees.  While it is debatable why the community is getting hotter, we can see no end in sight at this point.  We need to plan for temperatures that are hotter every year, and winters that are becoming increasing like spring.  But how do we prepare for it?

One of the most obvious ways to prepare for the weather in Las Vegas changing to hotter temperatures is to stop wasting water.  We have a limited supply of clean water in this area, provided by rainfall and Lake Mead.  We rely on this water supply to keep our citizens and our animals hydrated and healthy, and the water supply going too low could literally result in people dying because they have no access.  When people put grass lawns into their property, they are literally taking that water away from people who need it and dumping it down the sewer.  Over 55 gallons of water are needed every year to keep a single square foot of grass alive, and every one of those gallons of water could be conserved to assure our people that they would have enough water to drink, if you removed your lawn or chose to not put one in.  There are plenty of beautiful desert landscaping choices that you could make in order to keep your property beautiful without wasting water, and it is your responsibility to do it.

One of the best ways to have a lawn without wasting water is to install synthetic turf.  Companies like ours specialize in this process, and if you get your synthetic turf installed by a professional there is almost no way to notice the difference between it and real grass.  The process we use is to clear the area of all plants and then install a weed barrier to prevent anything from growing under it.  We then spread out a filler material that will allow for adequate drainage and also provide a cushioning effect.  On top of this we roll out and stake down the synthetic turf itself, which is a plastic product designed to look and feel just like real grass.  When it is done correctly, you will have a great looking lawn that looks and feels natural, but doesn’t use a drop of water to keep looking that way.  So are you ready to start being a responsible citizen and stop wasting water? If you are, call us for a free consultation and estimate, and we may even be able to get you a discount by using county rebate programs.
