Why Las Vegas Needs Artificial Grass

Welcome to Las Vegas, one of the most beautiful communities in the country, filled with excitement and leisure that will make even the most hardened doubter fall in love with it.  A few years ago Las Vegas was the fastest selling housing market in America, outpacing all other cities in new construction as people flooded in from California due to unaffordable home prices on the coast.  They looked at Las Vegas as an alternative to southern California, with weather that is similar in that it is continually sunny and almost never rains.  The major differences are that we do not have an ocean in Las Vegas, and because it almost never rains combined with being hotter than other places in the country, we are essentially a desert.  While this would probably have little effect on the decision making process due to the fact that the real estate was significantly cheaper due to these minor elements, form many people it is a factor.  Anyone who enjoys growing plants and landscaping their yard is probably not going to like Las Vegas very much, because it is quite difficult to get them to grow here due to the lack of water.  Everything in your yard in Las Vegas is going to need to be watered artificially with sprinkler systems, and while that might not be that big of a deal it becomes important when you are not allowed to use it.

Las Vegas is in a drought situation and we have not had enough rainfall over the course of the last few years to fill the reserves in Lake Mead to a level that can assure every citizen access to clean drinking water.  When this happens, the county automatically places restrictions on the watering of plants, as well as other uses of water that are considered wasteful.  While those who have invested time and money into their landscaping are not going to think that the watering of the plants is considered wasteful, unfortunately for them the county places a higher value on human and animal life than the grass of their yard.  What this means is that even if you can afford to water your grass every day during the summer, you are not allowed to do it.  By watering outside of the times when you are allowed, you face fines and even the threat of having your water service shut off.  During times of crisis, we all must do our part to conserve.

This is the reason that artificial grass is perfect for Las Vegas.  Artificial turf is a synthetic product made of plastic that is formed to look like actual lades of living grass.  It is affixed to a backing material so that it can be staked to the ground, and when professionally installed over a cushioning material, it is nearly impossible to know the difference between synthetic grass and real grass.  During drought times, the county will even pay you to remove your living grass and install artificial turf.  What are you waiting for, Las Vegas needs your participation.
