Residents of Las Vegas understand that we are living in a desert and are constantly under watering restrictions due to the fact that drought conditions exist almost permanently in the desert. Although we have create a large water supplies with the creation of Lake Mead, we continually must assess the amount of necessary water to have on hand at any period of time against the current population levels in the city. There was a time when the population of Las Vegas could not have possibly used the water in Lake Mead, and rainfall combined with runoff always re supplied the Lake far beyond the point of being a concern. Changing climates an increasing populations within the Las Vegas region have changed that, and now we face continual water shortages that if the situation was to grow more grave could potentially become deadly. A large population in Las Vegas relies completely on the public water supply in order to survive, as they have no alternative to it in order to maintain themselves. If water supplies were to drop to a dangerously low level, there would be a potential of death that could happen due to running out of water, a situation that has happened in other parts of the world. In order to avoid this situation at all costs, Las Vegas has been under continual water restrictions for many years now. What started as a yearly conservation effort in order to compensate for water waste during drought periods has become permanent. The watering restrictions that we see in place remain that way over the course of many years,  and are showing no signs of being changed in the future. Those that installed grass lawns in the past are now realizing that this is no longer a good option for their home. The restrictions on watering might save upwards of 50 gallons of water per year for every square foot of grass that you have, but that is a bitter pill to swallow for those who watched their lawns suffer and die every year only to have them restored and then die again the following year. After having this happen multiple times, many people are waking up to the fact that even though we can afford it, water is a precious commodity that cannot be wasted in the desert.

The solution it should be employed my Las Vegas residence is either the conservation of water through the installation of desert landscaping or the installation of synthetic turf. For those that really want to see lush green grass outside of their home, artificial turf is the perfect product to simulate this look. It needs no watering of any kind as well as care and maintenance in order to remain looking just as good as the day that you installed it. You can actually spend your time enjoying your lawn in the summer instead of mowing it, or if you have traditionally paid someone else to do the maintenance for you that money can be spent on other things. It is come into fashion that homes with grass lawns are no longer increasing in value and homes with maintenance free lawns are the ones that are more desired. Isn’t it time that you realize the mistakes of the past can be corrected with a simple acceptance of the fact that synthetic turf is not only better But necessary in Las Vegas.
